Salsa & Bachata Instructor
Nationality: Puerto Rico
Latin music is intoxicating in the best way. It is hard for Emerito to listen to the salsa, bachata beats and not feel the urge to dance. It has been more than 15 years since he first started having a passion for the beats. He remembers when he took his first lessons in Gainesville and how excited he was to hear the breakdown of each move and to try them with his fellow students. He’s been hooked ever since.
Emerito’s first instructor was excited to teach them what she knew as much as they were ready to learn. He has met some fantastic people through the salsa scene who have remained friends outside of the scene to this day. The salsa scene keeps changing in Gainesville but it keeps bringing people together and people continue to fall in love with it.
Emerito started teaching more than 10 years ago and he is still passionate about teaching and passionate about his students. He gets the most joy when his students are confident and perform the salsa steps with fluidity and ease. He loves when they ask questions to get clarification so they can get better. Watching them practice gives him great pride. Some of his pet peeves are forceful and big steps, back leading, over styling, over or under leading.
Emerito loves the Salsa Mundial studio and its management. His goal is clear, help others fall in love with the Latin beats as much as he does.
“To my students, I encourage you to continue practicing and challenging yourselves. The improvement will not happen overnight, but if you work hard and are not afraid to mess up you will get better!!!” -Emerito Ramos
