Salsa & Bachata Instructor
Kristen was thrilled the day she was asked to join the Salsa Mundial family as an instructor. Her passion for dance profoundly impacts her happiness both personally and professionally and she hopes to share this joy with others through teaching.
For her students, she has three main goals:
1) Have FUN!
2) Develop solid technique.
3) Learn to be an expressive dancer.
The emphasis in Kristen’s teaching stems from her diverse dance background including 14 years of ballet and 10 years of Latin dance. She has also dabbled in ballroom, west coast swing, and east coast swing. She has been on several performance teams and has competed as well.
Dance has also influenced Kristen’s professional life. Her fascination has led her to study human movement for many years. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, became a Doctor of Chiropractic (practiced for 6 years), and is now a Ph.D. candidate in Applied Neuromechanics at the University of Florida. Her research includes investigating the effects of rhythm, music, and dance on people with Parkinson’s disease.
