Salsa (On1 and Casino) Instructor
Veronica would probably best be known on the dance floor for her silly shines, sparkly gold heels, and, well, being tall. She loves social dancing with dancers of all levels, so don’t be shy! Just be warned – if she knows the words to the song, she’s probably going to be singing it.
Veronica began taking Casino Salsa classes with the Gator Salsa Club in the fall of 2012, shortly after transferring to UF. Veronica fell in love with the instructors’ passion for the dance, and it was through GSC that she found that passion for herself. It was a few years before she found herself craving more of a challenge, which is when she decided to branch out into learning LA Salsa and Bachata.
In March of 2016 Veronica attended an LA Salsa workshop taught by Koji. After that class Veronica and her then-boyfriend went with Koji and a few other dancers to dinner, where Koji’s friendly disposition and obvious knowledge of dance convinced them to try out their first LA class at Salsa Mundial the next week. From that moment they were hooked – the classes were small, focused, and fun! Even as life brought changes, Veronica was met with only support and smiles on every visit to the studio and she knew she had found something very special.
In the time since, Veronica has gone from eager student to Salsa Team performer (2017) to instructor (September 2018) and she couldn’t be more grateful. Now Veronica strives to not only better her own dancing but also that of her students. As she continues on this journey she hopes that the passion and respect she holds for the art of salsa comes out in every class she teaches.
Veronica is a Gainesville native. She holds her associate’s degree in Elementary Education and bachelor’s degree in English with a minor in Educational Studies. She currently works as an administrative assistant.
“Sometimes I hurt because I dance. Other times I dance because I hurt. Either way, dancing fixes it all.” – Unknown
